Will massive open online courses (MOOCs) and mobile technologies improve education or endanger it? In this panel discussion, panelists from six different countries and five continents discuss the power of MOOCs and mobile technologies in the education particularly in higher education; highlight the unique perspectives and global trends; identify advantages and struggles using online mobile platforms in education while focusing on learning Spaces for Innovative Multilingual Multicultural Learning Strategies (SIMMs); outline current data and statistics related to the use of MOOCs and mobile learning technologies; provide resources and strategies integrating MOOCs and mobile technologies in order to design multilingual and multicultural multimedia instruction for students in different ability and language level; showcase best practices around the world; and with the conference participants we will explore how MOOCs and mobile technologies promote “heutagogical approach” in education.
